I’ve finished! I’ve now covered the entire National Rail network.
Except. One name keeps bugging me.
Westhoughton. It’s a station between Bolton and Wigan that I don’t think I’ve been to. I certainly intended to visit on this trip, but I didn’t. I did so much replanning that it may have simply been removed from the itinerary without my realising it. It’s possible that the line was closed all week; there was a huge amount of engineering going on. In any case I need to resolve the matter.
But what next? I suppose there are trams and heritage railways. We’ll see. And they’re to reopen the Portishead line, so that’s a day trip to look forward to.
Update: I finally reached Westhoughton in September. See Day 99.
